Let’s look at my plans on color rework that started in v0.1.0. In first update I covered the core palettes - Orange, Green, Red, and Neutral. Now it’s time for the next set: Alpha variants of Neutral (light and dark), plus Blue and Violet.
Those Alpha palettes are basically transparent Neutrals. They’re built for cases where you’re working with overlays, layered surfaces, or semi-transparent UI elements.
And as long as Alpha palette can’t be used the same way on both white and black backgrounds - There is no reason to use “universal” Alpha. So, I’ve decided to make two clear variations: One, that works on light surfaces, and the other that works on dark.
I’ll also keep working on naming so all palettes function will be easy to understand.
Also at the same time, I’m planning to rework Blue and Violet, using the same method that I used for Orange. It really makes sense to bring those four color palettes to the same quality level as previous ones.
The goal here isn’t just visual clarity. I want more usable shades, cleaner saturation, and less muddy mid-tones. Each step on the color scale, should feel reasonable - and flexible enough to hold up across different UI scenarios. I’m also adding more helpful data to the palettes, so they’re easier to understand not only by eye, but by structure too.
This kind of rework takes certain amount of time because every shade gets tested across different backgrounds, components, and snapshots.
Throughout time, I want to make this process more visible and more structured (even if it stays a bit experimental for now). And if there’s another palette you’d like to see next, I would really love to hear your ideas. You can share it through the “Feedback & Suggestion” button below.
